Shell shaped, laterally and narrowly attached to the substrate, sparsely to densely covered with dark brown hairs on an orange background, to about 2 cm across
Eccentric, somewhat distant, pale orange
Rudimentary, concolorous with the gills, or slightly deeper orange
Firm, orange, slowly red when exposed to KOH solution
Very rare. The photo shows the first confirmed British collection.
On rotten deciduous wood
Spores globose, very finely spiny (5.5-7) µm across. Basidia club shaped, 4 spored. Gill edge cystidia finger shaped. Cuticle hairs about 10 µm wide, with clamp connections at the septa.
